Will Get to Use Blue Lasers in Successor to PlayStation 2
September
24, 2004...Applications for the compound semi industry's spectacular
blue spectrum laser diodes evidently aren't confined to Hollywood studio
applications, nor simply the next gen DVDs. They're slated to also be
fielded in the successor to Sony's PlayStation 2. Sony has let it be
known, via Nikkei (ref: New PlayStation To Offer Blu-Ray Technology)
that their Blu-ray compatible technology will definitely be included
in the next versions.

names, Color Kinetics of Boston, Massachusetts USA now has an impressive
31 active OEM and licensing partners, representing diverse lighting market
segments. The five newly signed companies include CityLight, City Theatrical,
Inc., Next Generation Lighting LLC, Orange22, and Spectrum Manufacturing.
OEM and licensing arrangements are deemed key to the success of rapidly
increasing the penetration of Solid State Lighting (SSL) alternatives
as replacements for conventional lighting, and with other emerging lighting
solutions challenging SSL, how leaders such as Color Kinetics are fairing
in their worldwide penetration through such partnerships can be a model

& Honeywell Score European Airport Lighting Project
September 24, 2004...STG Beikirch GmbH's Luxeon Solution Centre in Germany
has won a key project with Honeywell Airport Systems, Wedel, to manufacture
the light source of Honeywell Airport Systems` new design of next generation
obstruction lights. At the focal point of the project will be Lumileds
Luxeon LEDs which will be applied to Honeywell-specified PC-boards in
the new obstruction lights. The completed light systems will be fitted
to the top of windpower turbines located along coastlines and other suitable
areas throughout Europe. The project uses only 30 watts per light, and
each obstruction light incorporates 28 Luxeon LEDs with wide-angle optics
to achieve a minimum of 170 candela light intensity at a 360 deg; angle,
ensuring that the new German regulations for night marking of wind turbines

with Permlight
September 24, 2004...Advanced LED systems integrator and innovator, Permlight
Products of Tustin, California USA, has been moving quickly these days
and catching up with what they've been doing involves a variety of news.
Most recently, Permlight has appointed Edward Effron as their new VP of
Marketing and Development. Prior to joining Permlight, Mr. Effron had
been in the marketing group of Philips Lighting Company where he served
the design and OEM community placing new technologies into the marketplace.
